Restoring Your Computer's Software
Software Restore restores your computer's original contents except Mac OS X. This
includes the Mac OS 9 system software and the applications that came with your
computer.
Software Restore does not restore Mac OS X, iPhoto, iTunes, iChat, or iMovie. If you
need to reinstall Mac OS X or these applications, use the Mac OS X installation discs
that came with your computer. First back up essential software and files, if possible.
After reinstalling Mac OS X, if you need to restore the rest of your computer's
applications and files, double-click Software Restore pkg. This will install the Software
Restore application into the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder on your
hard disk. When the installation is complete, Software Restore opens.
To restore your computer's original contents:
1. Make sure you are using Mac OS X v10.2. If you are using Mac OS 9, restart your
computer in Mac OS X. To do this, open the Startup Disk control panel, select Mac OS
X and click Restart. You can not start your computer from the Software Restore CDs.
2. Make sure you have all the Software Restore CDs that came with your computer.
3. Double-click Software Restore pkg.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.
5. When prompted, select the applications and files you want to restore.
